Abstract: In this talk we will discuss the Java security model, explain where it has been deployed and why it failed and look at where Java is used in modern systems such as Android and what the security implications are. Bio: Alexandre Bartel is a Professor in the Department of Computing Science at Umeå University, Sweden. His research interests are in the area of software engineering and computer security. His work has helped to find and fix security weaknesses in Android applications, pen-source projects, the Java Virtual Machine, and software operated by the industry.
