Device and method for transmitting control data with moderate low peak-to-average power ratio

There is provided a transmitter device (1) for transmitting a digital input message corresponding to control data used in a control channel through a communication channel (3), the input message m comprising a number B of bits. The transmitter device comprises:

- a splitter (110) configured to split the input message m comprising said B channel bits into a first component comprising BV bits and a second component comprising BH bits such that B = BH + BV, using a set of splitting parameters;

- A vertical code generator (112) configured to generate a vertical code vk(m) of size P from the first component of BV bits;

- A horizontal code generator (114) configured to generate a horizontal code hl(m) of size L from the second component of BH bits;

- a combiner (14) configured to combine said vertical code vk(m) with said horizontal code hl(m), which provides a combined code sequence,

the transmitter device (1) comprising a modulator for each transmit antenna configured to apply a single carrier or multi-carrier modulation to the combined sequence, the transmitter device being configured to transmit the modulated combined sequence over the communication channel using the transmit antennas. The size P of the vertical code is equal to the number of resource elements in each of the L modulation symbols in time and/or frequency.
