This speech by Richard Stallman will be non technical, admission is free, and the public is encouraged to attend. Activities directed at "including'' more people in the use of digital technology are predicated on the assumption that such inclusion is invariably a good thing. It appears so, when judged solely by immediate practical convenience. However, if we also judge in terms of human rights, whether digital inclusion is good or bad depends on what kind of digital world we are to be included in. If we wish to work towards digital inclusion as a goal, it behooves us to make sure it is the good kind.

OWASP Europe TOUR is an event across the European region that promotes awareness about application security, so that people and organizations can make informed decisions about true application security risks.
Everyone is free to participate in OWASP and all of our materials are available under a free and open software license.
The conference aims at raising people's awareness to the risks of web development.
The event is FREE; an online registration is required.
This will be the only French stop of the OWASP Europe Tour 2013.

The automatic processing of personal data is growing at an incredible pace and is starting to become an integral part of economic, administrative and social processes in Europe and throughout the world. On the Web in particular, users have learned to pay for a nominally free service by providing personal data for marketing purposes. Against this background, the overhaul of data protection regulation is now being discussed across Europe. A year ago, the European Commission presented a new draft of a European Data Protection Regulation. The European Parliament and the European Council are now preparing their views on this new regulation. At the same time, huge lobby groups are trying to massively influence the regulatory bodies.

The important research activity that leads EURECOM in the field of data protection and privacy naturally involves the discussion of this regulation. Refik Molva, Professor and Head of the Research Networks and Security Dept. at EURECOM, is among the signatories of the letter of support to the new regulations with researchers from INRIA, CNRS, the Université de Versailles and the Institut de l’Ouest.

Roman Couillet, a former student of EURECOM (class 2007), won the "médaille de bronze 2013 du CNRS" (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) in the section "science of information and its interactions". This award is presented annually to young researchers (five to ten years after their PhD) working in France for their initial research. After his engineering degree, Romain Couillet prepared his PhD with SUPÉLEC which he graduated in November 2010. He is currently an assistant professor in the Telecommunication department of SUPÉLEC, France.

David Gesbert and his colleagues from the University of Texas at Austin, Supelec and Huawei (Marios Kountouris, Robert W. Heath, Jr., Chan-Byoung Chae and Thomas Salze) won the "2012 SPS Signal Processing Magazine Award" for the article entitled "Shifting the MIMO Paradigm".

Jessica Conti, a student at the prestigious L’Ecole Polytechnique in Paris, France, has been selected to receive the Grand Prix de Stage de Recherche de l’Ecole Polytechnique for the work she performed during his three-month spring internship at EURECOM. Jessica worked with research advisor Prof. JL Dugelay on “Database gained with Kinect and facial recognition”. The honorary award is given annually to six students who performed exceptional interdisciplinary work during their research internships.

Gabriel Serme, Anderson Santana De Oliveira, Marco Guarnieriy and Paul El Khoury received a Best Paper Award for the paper "Towards assisted remediation of security vulnerabilities" during SECURWARE 2012, 6th International Conference on Emerging Security Information, Systems and Technologies, August 19-24, 2012, Rome, Italy.

Andreea Picu, Thrasyvoulos Spyropoulos and Theus Hossmann received a Best Paper Award for the paper "An Analysis of the Information Spreading Delay in Heterogeneous Mobility DTNs" Proceedings of IEEE WoWMoM 2012, IEEE, San Francisco, CA, USA, June 25-28, 2012.

Andreea Picu is an ETH, Zurich student and she is currently visiting scientist in the Mobile Communications department of EURECOM.
