In this talk, I will briefly present my research group, TEXMEX at Rennes which focuses on the analysis and understanding of very large collections of multimedia documents. After that, I will focus on one point: how to structure large portions of TV streams? Several methods have already been proposed i the literature. One is top-down, based on a very large corpus of annotated data, and tries to infer the program grid from this data. The other ones are bottom-up and start from the signal. All these techniques rely in the availability of very large amounts of annotated data. So the current challenges are to switch from supervised methods to unsupervised, and to reduce the computing time.
