Capacity regions of broadcast packet erasure channels with feedback and memory The two-receiver broadcast packet erasure channel with feedback and memory is studied. Memory is modelled using a finite-state Markov chain representing a channel state. Two scenarios are considered: (i) the channel state is known strictly causally at the transmitter, and (ii) the channel state is not known at the transmitter. In the latter case, the channel memory evolves according to a hidden Markov model. In both scenarios, matching outer and inner bounds are derived on the capacity region. When the channel state is hidden, the capacity region does not take a single-letter characterization and is, in this sense, non-computable. Nevertheless, we propose a coding algorithm that bases its decisions on the past $L$ feedback sequences and prove that the gap between its achievable rate region and the outer bound decays exponentially fast in $L$. We provide computable approximations of the capacity region. Bio: Shirin Saeedi is a postdoctoral researcher in the Lehrstuhl für Nachrichtentechnik (LNT) group at the Technische Universität München. She got her B.Sc (2005) in Electrical Engineering from University of Tehran, and her M.Sc (2007) and PhD (2012) both in Communication Systems, with a specialization in Wireless Communications, from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). In 2013, she was awarded a Swiss National Science Foundation Prospective Researcher fellowship. Her research interests include Information theory and coding, Multi-User Communication Systems and network coding.
